چکیده

In this work an approach is described to efficiently reduce inaccuracies of flow data acquired with reduced data acquisition methods based on the physical prior knowledge of zero divergence in 3D velocity vector fields. The divergence-free condition is implemented using a synergistic combination of normalized convolution and divergence-free radial basis functions. The efficacy of the method is demonstrated for aortic flow measurements obtained from undersampled data. Background Cine 3D phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) has emerged as a valuable tool for assessing blood flow patterns [Markl, JCMR’11]. The relatively long acquisition times, however, limit its application in a clinical setting. Over the last years several undersampling techniques such as TSENSE, GRAPPA, PEAK-GRAPPA, k-t SENSE, k-t PCA and Compressed Sensing have been introduced which allow for up to 6-fold acceleration in typical applications [Kozerke,

Improving 3D MR Velocity-Vector Field Mapping by Divergence-Free Image Reconstruction

Introduction Phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) provides time-resolved 3D information of velocity fields of flowing blood in vessels. It has however been noted that system imperfections including eddy current related phase offsets, sample noise, displacement and partial volume effects can compromise the accuracy of velocity data derived from phase-contrast measurements [1]. If o...

Improved L1-SPIRiT Reconstruction with a Phase Divergence Penalty for 3D Phase-Contrast Flow Measurements

INTRODUCTION Time-resolved three-dimensional phase-contrast MR flow measurements (3D PC-MRI) suffer from long scan times and phase noise. Compressed sensing (CS) has been introduced to acquire undersampled volumetric MRI datasets in significantly reduced scan times. However, standard CS implementations regularize voxel magnitude while ignoring voxel phase. Recently Zhao et al have proposed sepa...

Accelerated three-dimensional cine phase contrast imaging using randomly undersampled echo planar imaging with compressed sensing reconstruction.

The aim of this study was to implement and evaluate an accelerated three-dimensional (3D) cine phase contrast MRI sequence by combining a randomly sampled 3D k-space acquisition sequence with an echo planar imaging (EPI) readout. An accelerated 3D cine phase contrast MRI sequence was implemented by combining EPI readout with randomly undersampled 3D k-space data suitable for compressed sensing ...

Accelerated 4D flow imaging using randomly undersampled echo planer imaging with compressed-sensing reconstruction

Introduction 2D phase contrast (PC) CMR is currently the standard clinical imaging sequence for evaluation of blood flow [1]. Recently, 3D time-resolved PC CMR (4D-PC) has been used for quantification and visualization of blood flow in all three directions of a volume [2]. However, such acquisitions require long scan times (often 10-20 minutes), which reduces its clinical feasibility and leads ...

Accelerated aortic flow assessment with compressed sensing with and without use of the sparsity of the complex difference image.

Phase contrast (PC) cardiac MR is widely used for the clinical assessment of blood flow in cardiovascular disease. One of the challenges of PC cardiac MR is the long scan time which limits both spatial and temporal resolution. Compressed sensing reconstruction with accelerated PC acquisitions is a promising technique to increase the scan efficiency. In this study, we sought to use the sparsity ...
